This Month
November 2008
Last month’s new moon in Scorpio (October 29) probably set the scene for this month’s introduction to some of the major world changing events that are about to be unleashed. On a personal note Scorpio new moons are notorious for plunging us into the depths to reveal some personal secret, embarrassment or shame. Dreams are often the catalyst for reigniting an uncomfortable truth about ourselves, or we meet someone who throws us off balance but invariably the result is the same - a button is pushed and we are confronted with an aspect of ourselves that needs to be bought out into the light and dealt with.
Scorpio is about death, dying, rebirth and at the start of this month, a month which is predominately ruled by the sign of transformation, we find Saturn and Uranus in exact opposition on 5 November (00:05am) setting up its own version of transformation. Saturn is about the established and traditional ways – it is earth, it represents old respectable tried and true leadership and from a mundane point of view rules governments and heads of major corporations. On the other hand we have Uranus who is the great change agent of the chart, who represents air, who detests rules and regulations (the domain of Saturn) and who holds no regard for authority. With these two in opposition we see the possibility of the old being overthrown by a driving force of new and radical ideas leading to a changed society. (Interesting to note than that this opposition takes place in America on the day of the presidential election when we have the old man (Saturn) in opposition to the younger man who may become the first black American President – a radical shift – Uranus maybe ???….).
On a personal note, once again, we as individuals cannot escape the energies which are currently being played out on the world stage. It is likely that a Saturian figure may enter our life in some guise or other and we may find ourselves rearing up, wanting to change a system that has that paid homage to undeserving authority personages for too long. It may happen on a one to one basis or it may happen in a general sense. Let’s look at our attitude to the heads of certain banks and stock broking firms who have walked away with millions in their pockets while we watch our superannuation funds dwindling on a daily basis.
Now back to the new moon – have we found someone to take the blame for our possible financial and/or social standing woes or are we responsible enough to acknowledge that we now have to face the consequences of our collective overspending. Here is the death of the old ways – regular pay packets being spent twice over – and the inevitable change (hence transformation) in our relationship to money, power and authority. I dare say we are all having buttons pushed at the moment. Fear of the truth being revealed is quite real. A transformation will have to occur in our personal lives as much as in a global sense.
Mercury enters Scorpio on the same day as our Saturn Uranus opposition. We will need to keep a watch on our thoughts and imaginations to ensure we don’t look for a scapegoat – someone to whom we can give a tongue lashing. Our own individual fears, secrets, shame will be bought to mind. Again they will need to be acknowledged.
Other significant events this month include the change of direction by both Uranus and Neptune. Neptune is the first to go direct, stationing at 21° Aquarius 28' on 1 November whilst Uranus stations direct on 28 November at 21° Pisces 50'. With Chiron, who changed direction last month, we now have all planets moving in a forward motion until 31 December when Saturn heads off in a retrograde movement in time to start the new year. Pluto re-enters the land of the corporate giants on 27 November and will now stay in this sign in preparation for the t-square meeting with Saturn and Uranus in July 2010.
The full moon this month lies across the Scorpio Taurus axis at 21° 15' and occurs on 13 November. At the new moon we were faced with some inner truths. Now with the full moon in Taurus we are asked to ground ourselves, to work in a tangible way with those revelations. Neptune sits in a tight t-square to sun moon opposition lending a spiritual or intuitive slant to the full moon and with any luck dissolving some of our fears.
The new moon closes this month’s story. Sun and moon meet at 05° Sagittarius 49' on 28 November at 3:53am. As is always the case when we have travelled through Medusa’s cave, the relief of the Sagittarian freedom is almost palpable. As mentioned before Uranus goes direct on the same day so the freedom factor is accentuated. Freedom, with responsibility though, as we face some major challenging aspects in the months ahead.
